Lewis Howell works with light.
15+ years crafting light shows for some of the worlds most prominent musicians has given him a unique perspective on the ways in which audiences respond to their environment. It is this ability to augment the live experience for a viewer, which has led him to explore further afield, drawing inspiration from the landscape and his surroundings to create a body of work entitled;
Hailing from a small village in North Hertfordshire, Lewis' daily walks with his trusty dog, Biba are a necessary escape. Taking him away from the brick and concrete environs of London music venues, he is able to roam the acres of land around him, learning the landscape and understanding the subtleties and beauty of his surroundings.
His work focuses on the ever-changing allure and simplicity of nature, using his local knowledge and experience to document the elemental changes in seasons, textures and places. It is this ability to step back, simplify and interpret which highlights the ethereal beauty and sensitivity of his images.
Shot within a 100-acre radius of his home, Lewis’ work highlights the human desire to stop, take stock and regroup. It instils in the viewer, the desire to see the best in things, to appreciate the places we inhabit and to sensitively interpret their unwavering beauty.
